ILSA: an automated language complexity analysis tool for French

Estimating language complexity is an important aspect of educational measurement and assessment that can be used, for instance, to control unwanted variance due language, or provide students with texts are conducive learning. Automatic processing techniques used extract various linguistic features reflect the vocabulary sentence structure. In this paper, we present a new tool called ILSA (Integrated Lexico-Syntactic Analyzer), which developed research applications. We summarize how works types attributes it extract. then apply 600 in Quebec elementary secondary schools analyze correlations between school grade associated text. The results show potential modeling French texts.
